Components Available

Overhead bridge cranes are made up of several components, and each component has an important role to play in the movement of heavy loads in a facility. Replacing components as needed minimizes the chance of expensive breakdowns or repairs.

• Bridges: Bridges let you move loads from one end of a facility to the other. Bridges themselves consist of several components, including the beams, which support the ends, the end trucks, and the drive. A bridge can be single-girder, meaning it has one beam, or double-girder, meaning it has two.
• Hoists and trolleys: Hoists and trolleys allow you to move and lift loads. Trolleys connect hoists to the bridge, so the hoist can move horizontally. Based on the type of crane, the trolley is at the bridge’s top or bottom. You can choose from trolleys and hoists that are powered or manually operated.
• Runways: Runways provide support to the bridge. They are made from enclosed track or beams, so the bridge can move along the crane’s length. Runways are installed throughout a facility, allowing you to reach any area. Whether you need a top or bottom-running crane depends on the type of overhead bridge crane you have in your facility.
• End trucks: End trucks allow the bridge to move up and down the runway. There is an end truck at each end of the bridge, which attaches directly to the runway. The size of the end trucks depends on the capacity of the bridge crane.
• Columns: Columns provide support for the weight of a crane’s components, parts, and intended loads. You may need columns if your facility can’t support the weight of a crane on its own. The number of columns you may need is based on the size of the crane system.
• Controls: You can control an overhead bridge crane in several ways, such as through the use of a wireless remote, a pendant controller, or a mounted control system.
• Electric connection: Your crane will need electrical power to function. If you have a high-capacity system, you may need to supply electrical power to the hoists, trolleys, and bridge.
• Bumpers: Bumpers reduce stopping impact and limit bridge movement, allowing it to come to a soft stop. Bumpers can also keep multiple bridges in the same system separated. 
• Wheels: Wheels are found throughout an overhead crane system. The bridge end trucks need wheels to help them move smoothly along the runways. Trolleys glide across the bridge on wheels. Since wheels are essential to the function of an overhead bridge crane system, they need to be well-maintained and in good working order.

Jib Drive and Workstation Enclosed Track Drive Units

It can be difficult or impossible to move loads manually that are too heavy or if the load is too big for the operator to move safely. In addition, moving loads over a long distance can be inconvenient. It may be helpful to install a retrofit jib drive or enclosed track tractor drive unit in these cases.
