Jib Cranes
ERGONOMIC OVERHEAD CRANE SYSTEMS BUILT TO LAST
We have thousands of pre-engineered overhead cranes, all of which can be fully customized to meet the needs of your specific application. Our certified engineers enjoy the challenge of creating custom systems for unique applications. All Spanco cranes come with the best warranties in the industry.
A jib crane has a wall- or floor-mounted mast with a jib — a horizontal boom — that supports a moveable hoist. The jib can have a fixed position or move 180 or 360 degrees to complete repetitive lifting or load transfer tasks.
Spanco has thousands of jib cranes to suit your specific applications. We offer full customization to meet your unique needs and comprehensive warranties for a jib crane that lasts.
How to Choose The Right Jib Crane
- Area of rotation: Freestanding and mast-style jib cranes offer 360-degree rotation; wall-mounted cranes offer 180-degree rotation.
- Height Under Boom: The distance from floor to underside of jib crane’s boom is the height under boom. Also factor in hoist size and lifting height needed.
- Overall jib crane height: Factor in any attachments, such as electrical entry, so that the crane will be free from overhead obstructions.
- Actual working span needed: The working (or hook) distance is roughly the length of the boom minus ½ trolley length at each end.
- Power requirements: Will you need power for your jib crane’s motor drive, its trolley, its hoist, or all three? Will the power supply be electric or air? Bottom or top entry? Indoor or outdoor use?
- Installation: Your Spanco distributor can review your application and, together with our engineering team, make expert recommendations.
Our Jib Cranes for Sale
Spanco has a wide variety of jib crane types, all manufactured for durability and reliability. No matter which jib crane you choose, you’ll gain a valuable piece of equipment for your workflow.
All of our jib cranes have these features in common:
- Jib crane capacity between 100 and 10,000 pounds for standard models and up to 30,000 pounds based on the series
- Foldable jibs to make room for overhead cranes
- Option to install hoists, manipulators, balancers, and power drives to make a motorized jib crane, control load lifting and placement, and more
Articulating Jib Cranes
The jibs on articulating jib cranes have two axes, allowing them to navigate around obstacles in work areas, like columns, machinery, corners, and containers. These pivot points make it easy to precisely navigate loads around your workspace.
Our articulating jib cranes include:
- Bridge-Mounted and Ceiling-Mounted Articulating Jib Cranes
- Wall-Mounted Articulating Jib Cranes
- Freestanding Articulating Jib Cranes
- Portable Base Articulating Jib Cranes
Foundationless Jib Cranes
A foundationless jib crane is bolted to reinforced concrete, with no special poured foundation required. These indoor cranes are portable and can rotate 360 degrees.
Our foundationless jib crane models include Workstation Jib Cranes.
Freestanding Jib Cranes
A freestanding jib crane offers the flexibility of being installed virtually anywhere you need it. With no placement limitations, you can use a freestanding jib crane with other crane systems or on its own, in an open area or small workstation, indoors or outdoors. In addition, you can enjoy higher lift capacities, greater rotation, and longer spans.
Our inventory includes these freestanding jib crane models:
- Freestanding Jib Cranes – Base-Plate Mounted
- Freestanding Jib Cranes – Foundation Mounted
- Freestanding Jib Cranes – Sleeve-Insert Mounted
- Freestanding Workstation Jib Cranes
Mast-Style Jib Cranes
Mast-style jib cranes are similar to but cost less than freestanding jib cranes. You can save even more by not having to pour a special foundation — these cranes mount to building columns or a 6-inch thick reinforced concrete floor. With 360-degree rotation, this rotating jib crane allows you to access any part of your work area.
Spanco has two models of mast-style jib cranes — Full Cantilever and Drop Cantilever.
Portable Base Jib Cranes
A portable base jib crane offers the lifting capacity of a jib crane with the advantage of mobility. Use a forklift to move your portable base jib crane to adapt to workflow changes or relocate to another facility. These cranes are also ideal for repetitive load transfers to reduce manual labor.
We have a Portable Base Workstation Jib Crane as an ergonomic solution for your facility.
Wall-Mounted Jib Cranes
A wall-mounted jib crane is mounted to your building’s existing support beams. Since these models don’t need a foundation or floor space, you can maximize space utilization. Our models provide unrivaled clearance under and above the boom.
Our wall-mounted jib cranes include:
- Wall-Mounted Articulating Jib Cranes
- Wall-Mounted Jib Cranes – Cantilever
- Wall-Mounted Jib Cranes – Tie-Rod Supported
- Wall-Mounted Workstation Jib Cranes
Wall-Traveling Jib Cranes
Our wall-traveling jib cranes have a cantilever frame with or without a trolley and are fixed on a side wall or columns in the building. The crane moves along a runway, so it can “travel” wherever you need along the wall or column. Like the wall-mounted options, wall-traveling jib cranes require no floor space.
Our inventory includes one Wall-Mounted Traveling Jib Crane model with a boom length of up to 40 feet and a load capacity between 100 pounds and 5 metric tons.
Benefits and Applications for Jib Cranes
Jib cranes offer several advantages for your operations, including:
- Cost savings for mounting
- Maximized space utilization
- Enhanced worker productivity
- Reduced risk of workplace injuries
- Improved safety
- Simple operation
- Fewer maintenance requirements
Jib cranes have many potential applications but are mostly used for repetitive lifting in small work areas of production environments or moving materials to nearby workstations in outdoor and indoor locations.
